Ghazwan Hamdan (Creative Director and Founder) Prior to founding Maek, Ghazwan was Head of Design at the multi-award-winning creative agency Deepend, and then went on to freelance as an art director at JWT, Poke, de-construct and the BBC, among others. Ghazwan’s expertise is broad and includes strategy, brand identity, animation, website design, illustration and video editing. He holds a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Nottingham Trent University.
Punyo Sakharet (Creative Director, Co-founder) Before setting up Maek with Ghazwan, Punyo was Senior Designer at Deepend (where his partnership with Ghazwan began) and then moved on to become an art director with leading creative industry names such as Poke, Saatchi and Saatchi, Ogilvy, de-construct and Airlock. Punyo’s core experience is in art direction, website design and graphic design. He holds a BA (Hons) in Graphic and Media Design from the London College of Printing.
Robert Power (Technical Director) Rob joined us in 2007 to head up our technical function. Before his arrival at Maek, Rob ran his own digital agency in Asia for eight years. A creative and technical jack of all trades, Rob’s core skills cover ideation, front and back-end development, content management architecture, requirements, technical planning, scoping, management and delivery, and project management.
Nichola Rinks (Business Director) As a business development and client relationship expert, Nichola has been involved in strategic business development, client growth and creative marketing since 2007, helping design and creative businesses to grow and build their reputation in strategically defined markets and verticals. Nichola’s expertise lies in driving growth through new client acquisition and existing client growth whilst helping to educate the team and management in best business development practice - processes, tools, teams.
Prior to Maek, Nichola was Head of Business Development for 7 years at iconic leading London-based Design and Innovation company Seymour Powell, before moving on to become Relationship Director at Native Design and Global Business DIrector at Siberia. Nichola’s core skills lie in taking ownership of client relationships, maintaining consistent pipelines of new and repeat business and planning for long-range growth and excellence. Nichola has a BA Hons degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from King’s College, University of London.
Sareh Ferguson (Content creator) Experienced in creating distinct brand voices that make every client stand out, MAEK’s copy guru believes a brand's writing shouldn’t just say something. It should sing… Or, rap. Maybe even both, simultaneously, while popping and locking in a mock dance battle. From the quirky to the serious, Sarah takes the guesswork out of the conceptual process. Her previous work as an editor and writer for two online platforms grew her appreciation for digital long-form copy, but she relishes the creative challenge of the short-form. Having completed content creation for a diverse range of industries ranging from F&B and health & beauty to heavy industries and tech, previous UAE clients include du, the Eat app, Acoulite, and the Abu Dhabi government project, Hassantuk. Plus, with a Master’s of Technology: Chiropractic degree, she is well-placed to deliver impactful healthcare writing, having previously worked on projects for Emirates Hospital and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman.
